FC Barcelona Finalizes Deal for New Star Player
FC Barcelona has reached a “total agreement” to sign a player they had on loan last season, according to Forbes. This player, often called Mbacke, is Mamadou Fall.
Mbacke first joined Barcelona’s reserve team, Barca Atletic, from Los Angeles FC. He is known for being an excellent center back, especially strong in the air.
During the 2023/2024 season, Mbacke had an impressive campaign under the coaching of Rafa Marquez. His performance caught the attention of many, leading to discussions about a permanent move.
Reports from Mundo Deportivo suggested that FC Barcelona was negotiating to buy Mbacke outright for $4 million plus additional fees. This shows how much value they see in his talent and potential.
This signing highlights FC Barcelona’s strategy to strengthen their squad with promising young players. Mbacke’s addition is expected to boost the team’s defense for future seasons.
Mamadou Fall, known as Mbacke, was expected to be promoted to FC Barcelona’s first team or at least train with them alongside Mika Faye. This made it surprising when Mbacke announced his departure on social media.
“Hi Culers, it’s been a great journey sharing experiences as a teammate and a fan,” Mbacke wrote in both Catalan and French. His announcement came as a shock to fans.
Mbacke’s unexpected departure has left many wondering about his future and what it means for Barcelona’s plans, especially after a promising season.
I came to Barcelona with the goal of bringing the team back to its rightful place at the top. However, fate had other plans, and that wasn’t what happened.
Despite the brief time, I am genuinely happy and grateful to have been part of this journey. Every moment with the team was special to me. And I cherished each moment along the way.
I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone. Although my time was too short here but it was meaningful. Thank you all for being a part of this experience.
Just two weeks after the earlier news, Barcelona has apparently finalized a deal to acquire Mbacke. Instead of the initially stated $4 million, Barcelona will now pay a reduced amount of €2 million ($2.2 million). In return, LAFC will receive a portion of any profits from Mbacke’s future sale, ensuring they benefit from his success beyond this initial transaction.
Barcelona plans to keep the 21-year-old with their reserve team, Barca Atletic. However, according to SPORT, this could change if a significant offer comes in soon. The Catalan club needs to sell players to balance finances and adhere to Financial Fair Play rules, aiming for a 1:1 ratio.
President Joan Laporta assured on Catalunya Radio that Barcelona can afford to pursue their top transfer target, Nico Williams. Yet, due to having too many central defenders, they might consider offers for players like Mbacke.
