I hope to reach 24 eventually but for now I’ll savor this third one and see what the future holds. For Alcaraz to even think about catching Djokovic’s record for the most Grand Slams shows just how ambitious he is.

John McEnroe suggests that Jannik Sinner and another player might rival Alcaraz in the future. Alcaraz’s success at such a young age means he could have another 15 years to compete for more Grand Slam titles if he stays healthy.

Meanwhile Lamine Yamal has been incredibly compose. Under pressure this summer with the 17 year old Barcelona player shining at Euro 2024 with his impressive performances.

At just 16 years and 362 days old Yamal scored a brilliant equalizer. And Dani Olmo soon added the winning goal. Spain came back from Randal Kolo Muani’s header to secure a 2-1 victory. And set up a final match against England on Sunday.

With that goal Yamal broke Pelé’s record as the youngest player to appear in a major tournament semi final.

His experience with Barcelona has helped him handle pressure well. By the time he turned 17 Yamal had already made 51 appearances for Barcelona scoring seven goals and providing seven assists.

In contrast neither Lionel Messi of Argentina nor Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal the two greatest players of this generation had played a single first team match for club or country at age 16.

On April 29, 2023 Yamal became Barcelona’s youngest player at just 15 years and 290 days old. When he substituted Gavi with six minutes remaining in a 4-0 victory over Real Betis. At 16 years and 38 days old Yamal became the youngest player since 1939 to start a La Liga match when he played against Cádiz.

Like Alcaraz he is breaking records and Spain is lucky to have two emerging sports superstars who are poised to dominate the sporting world for the next decade and beyond.
