3.5 Magnitude Earthquake Hit San Gabriel Valley and Los Angeles Areas

Minor Earthquake in Los Angeles

On Sunday morning minor earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 struck near South Pasadena. It happened at 9:55am and the center of earthquake was in the El Sereno area which is just south of South Pasadena.

The earthquake measured to have occurred 11.3 kilometers beneath the surface according to the USGS. So far there have not any reports of damage from the earthquake.

The earthquake felt in the San Gabriel Valley and also in some parts of Los Angeles, according to the US Geological survey. It happened less than a mile away from Alhambra and South Pasadena further about a mile away from Monterey Park and East Los Angeles.

A supervisor at the Crescenta Valley police station in Los Angeles County said they felt a small shake for about two seconds. They mentioned that no one called the station about any problems related to the minor earthquake. So, there have not any reports of people got hurt or any damage to buildings.

In past 10 days there were one earthquake with a magnitude of 3.0 or higher centered nearby. According to the data from last three years an average of five earthquakes with magnitudes between 3.0 and 4.0. These earthquakes happened each year in the greater Los Angeles area.
