WNBA Playoff Standings: Fever, Sky Battle for Postseason Spots

As the 2024 WNBA season nears its stop, the Fever have secured a playoff berth, at the same time as the Sky are nonetheless scuffling to keep their postseason hopes alive inside the standings.

With fewer than 10 games left, the playoff photo is turning clearer. However, the Liberty, Sun, Lynx, Aces, Storm, Fever, and Mercury have locked in seven of the 8 available playoff spots. Now, the Sky, Dream, Mystics, and Wings are in a heated race for the very last spot.

WNBA playoff tiebreakers

The WNBA has five tiebreakers in place for playoff seeding when two teams finish with the same record:

1. Better record in head-to-head matchups
2. Better winning percentage against teams with a .500 or better record at season’s end
3. Superior point differential in head-to-head games
4. Coin toss

For ties involving more than two teams, the tiebreakers are slightly modified:

1. Best winning percentage in head-to-head matchups between all tied teams
2. Higher winning percentage within the conference (if all teams are from the same conference) or against teams in the opposite conference (if teams are from different conferences)
3. Better winning percentage against teams with a .500 or better record
4. Best point differential in games between tied teams
5. Coin toss
