Nick Kyrgios has joined Ons Jabeur in criticizing the Chris Evert for her comments comparing Karolina Muchova to male tennis players. Evert made the remarks after Muchova defeated two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka 6-3, 7-6(5) in the second round on August 30, 2024.

Commenting for ESPN, Evert noted Muchova, Muchova is an incredibly talented player. She doesn’t need to be compared to men to the showcase her great serve, volley, or movement. Can we please stop stereotyping based on gender?

Nick Kyrgios recently echoed Jabeur sentiment by sharing her tweet on X, adding:
I agree! SHE WAS AMAZING. Why does it matter? Her volleys were incredible, and she was unreal. ONS, teach me your slice, please—mine keeps hitting the fence, Kyrgios wrote.

Serves and volleys, saying She plays like a guy. She wants to play like a guy. The guys have bigger serves than the women, they have better volleys for the most part, they move a little bit better.

Chris Evert has apologized for her comment about Karolina Muchova

After that, backlash for her comments about Karolina Muchova, Chris Evert apologized to Muchova and Ons Jabeur on social media. She said she didn’t mean to offend and acknowledged her delivery could have been better. Evert explained that she was highlighting improvements in women’s tennis and the influence of male idols.

Karolina Muchova will face Anastasia Potapova in the third round on August 31 at the Grandstand. Before the US Open, Muchova was eliminated early at the Cincinnati Masters, losing to Jessica Pegula. Last year, she reached the US Open semifinals but lost to Coco Gauff.
