In a stunning display of basketball dominance LeBron James and Kevin Durant’s Team USA boasts a staggering $2.5 billion valuation outpacing their Olympic rivals by a remarkable sevenfold.

LeBron James and Kevin Durant’s powerhouse team, featuring a roster of All-Stars, MVPs, and NBA champions is dominating Group C of the 2024 Olympics following decisive victories against Serbia and South Sudan.

The unbeaten US team is expected to complete their Group C campaign with an easy win over Puerto Rico on Saturday. Their impressive performance is largely due to their significant financial advantage.

Serbia, South Sudan, and Puerto Rico have ten players with NBA experience. These players have earned about $335 million in the NBA, with $200 million of that from Serbia’s Nikola Jokic. This total is roughly seven times less than Team USA’s combined earnings.

The big financial differences show what the smaller teams are up against in Paris. LeBron James, with a net worth of $1.2 billion, has far surpassed Michael Jordan in NBA earnings.

Then there’s Steph Curry, making his Olympic debut. And already having earned over $354 million with four NBA championships from the Golden State Warriors. Next is Anthony Davis, who is stepping into the starting lineup in place of Joel Embiid. Who was booed by French fans on Sunday. Davis has earned $266 million in his NBA career.

Devin Booker has earned $166 million so far. Jayson Tatum, the current NBA champion finally started a game on Tuesday. And has earned $120 million so far with a potential $439 million. If he completes his contract with the Boston Celtics.

South Sudan, the world’s youngest country has struggled with funding and is not well-known in the US. They lost 103-86 to the US but previously beat Puerto Rico 90-79. Their roster includes Wenyen Gabriel and JT Thor, who have earned just $11 million in the NBA.

Serbian stars Nikola Jokic ($198 million), Bogdan Bogdanovic ($99 million), and others, with a combined $335 million in earnings were hope for to challenge the US in their Group C opener. However, their total couldn’t match the USA’s billions, and Kevin Durant’s 23 points led to a 110-84 win.

Next for the wealthy Americans is Puerto Rico, which unexpectedly defeated LeBron and Team USA in the opening round of the 2004 Olympics. The Caribbean island, with a population of about 3.22 million, has two NBA players, Jose Alvarado and Davon Reed, who have earned $9 million in total.
