Fans criticized Joel Embiid after he foul out of the Team USA game in only 12 minutes sparking controversy online.

The U.S. Guys’s basketball crew received their first exhibition sport for the 2024 Paris Olympics beating Canada 86-72 on Wednesday. Key players blanketed Anthony Edwards with 13 factors Steph Curry with 12 and Anthony Davis with 10 factors 11 rebounds and blocks.

LeBron James added seven factors 5 rebounds three assists and 3 steals in 19 mins. Jrue Holiday additionally stood out with eleven factors five rebounds 4 assists and blocks.

However, Joel Embiid’s debut with the team did not go well. He fouled out after only 12 minutes on the court disappointing many fans.

Fans React to Joel Embiid’s Struggles Against Canada

Joel Embiid struggled to adjust against Canada especially against Mavericks’ backup center Dwight Powell. Joel Embiid faced unfamiliar officiating and frustration-induced foul disappointing fans who voiced their dissatisfaction.

In his 12 minutes on the court Embiid scored five points grabbed six rebounds but also had four turnovers and made only five shots. His usual smoothness was missing and Anthony Davis outperformed him noticeably.

Team USA started with a promising lineup that included guards Stephen Curry Jrue Holiday and Devin Booker along with Embiid and LeBron James. Despite this lineup they didn’t achieve the expected success. Some believe starting Anthony Davis instead of Embiid with LeBron James as the main wing could improve their performance.

The United States with 16 Olympic gold medals and a streak of consistent wins since 2004 is typically favored in every Olympic Games. Despite limited time to assemble a team every four years they recruit top players and often dominate the competition.

However Team USA has shown vulnerability in recent FIBA World Cup events. They failed to medal in the last two competitions finishing fourth most recently and a surprising seventh in 2019.

These teams did not include top-tier U.S. talent highlighting that assembling a competitive team is crucial against global competition.
