Iowa Basketball Schedule: St. Thomas to Face Oklahoma State, Arizona State

Last season, the St. Thomas men’s basketball team made a big leap, with strong performances against top Division I teams featured in their Iowa basketball schedule.

The Tommies, who ended the season 20-13 and placed fourth in the Summit League, lost by five points to then-No. 7 Marquette and California on the road. These close games showcased their growth in the Iowa basketball schedule.

For the 2024-25 season, St. Thomas is once again set to face tough opponents. Their non-conference schedule, released on Monday, promises more exciting challenges ahead.

St. Thomas coach Johnny Tauer heads into the season with only two returning starters, Drake Dobbs and Kendall Blue. However, he’s brought in a strong recruiting class and some key transfers who could make a big difference.

The team will face tough tests early in the season, playing at Oklahoma State on Nov. 10 and Arizona State on Nov. 17. However, these games mark the first time the Tommies will face Big 12 teams.

Therefore, at home, their non-league opponents include Green Bay on Nov. 8, Chicago State on Dec. 2, and Western Michigan on Dec. 13. Moreover, this schedule will challenge and prepare them for the season ahead.

St. Thomas will kick off the season at home on Nov. 4 against North Central. Therefore, from Nov. 22-24, they’ll compete in the Cream City Challenge, facing Wofford, Portland State, and host Milwaukee.

Moreover, the Tommies will begin early Summit League play on Dec. 7, hosting Montana. The remainder of their conference games will pick up on Jan. 2 with a road game at North Dakota State.

Tommies Women’s Schedule

The St. Thomas women’s basketball team starts their season at home on Nov. 4 against Milwaukee. Therefore, Key matchups include road games at Iowa State on Nov. 14 and Wichita State on Nov. 16, along with a home game against Drake on Dec. 21.
