At the end of the third quarter, a fan ran to the Germany bench to report a problem. Medics quickly went into the stands to assist, using sheets to ensure privacy. Despite their efforts, the fan taken away on a stretcher, leading the teams to decide to end the game.

In response to the incident, Great Britain Basketball stopped and stated: “During the GB Women vs Germany game on July 21st, a fan experienced a medical emergency. After consulting with everyone involved, it decided to cancel the game. The British Basketball Federation thanks both teams for a great game and appreciates the fans’ support and understanding during this situation.”

Germany and Dallas Wings player Satou Sabally expressed her concern, saying, “I wish the best for both families involved. Hard times happen in sports, but health remains the top priority.”

Looking ahead, London is busy preparing teams for the Olympics this summer. Germany set to play the U.S. at the O2 Arena on Tuesday. In a recent game, the USA men’s team, featuring stars like LeBron James and Steph Curry, narrowly defeated South Sudan 101-110.

The U.S. team had been down by 16 points against the 33rd-ranked team. LeBron James scored a crucial basket with eight seconds left, making it a tightly contested game. Earlier, South Sudan had beaten Great Britain 84-81.

U.S. coach Steve Kerr admitted his team was embarrassed at halftime and acknowledged the global improvement of basketball. He conceded that he failed to adequately prepare the team and did not focus enough on South Sudan’s strengths.

Kerr took responsibility for South Sudan gaining early confidence, praised their performance, and noted that the close finish provided valuable experience for the upcoming events in Paris and Lille.
