Furthermore, Moore 27, had years left on his contract with the Carolina Panthers. He was supposed to end up a free agent in 2026. Now, he signed with the Bears through the 2029 season. He joins an extensive receiver institution with 12-year veteran Keenan Allen and the ninth average draft choose, Rome Odunze.

Similarly, Moore, a former first-spherical choose, became the key participant in a 2023 alternate. The trade sent the No. 1 overall pick from Chicago to Carolina in exchange for Moore and four draft picks. Chicago’s general manager, Ryan Poles, was thrilled to get Moore and worried he wouldn’t be available if they waited any longer.

Moreover, in his first season with the Bears, Moore had a career of 12 months. He led the group with 96 receptions, 1,364 receiving yards, 80.2 receiving yards consistent with recreation, and eight touchdowns. He accounted for 39.9% of the group’s receiving yards, the highest percentage for any participant in 2023.

In one season, Moore changed the Bears’ offense. His 1,364 receiving yards have been the fourth maximum in crew history. Only Brandon Marshall (2012), Alshon Jeffery (2013), and Marcus Robinson (1999) had extra.

Since 2018, Moore has caught passes from 12 special quarterbacks. Despite this, he ranks seventh in the NFL in receiving yards at some point in that time. DJ is our best player and hardest worker, said Bears coach Matt Eberflus in June. He is tough, a great teammate, and very talented.

Therefore, the Bears extended Moore’s contract earlier than usual for players under GM Ryan Poles. Last summer, they extended tight end Cole Kmet just before the final year of his rookie deal. They let cornerback Jaylon Johnson finish his rookie contract in 2023 before signing him to a four-year extension, using the franchise tag as a placeholder.

In March, Poles said he wanted to be intentional with the order that we do negotiations. Moore got his extension before other Bears players with contracts ending in 2024. Allen, traded from the Chargers to the Bears, has one year left on his deal.

Left guard Teven Jenkins is in the final year of his rookie contract. The Bears told him and his agent to wait until after their Week 7 bye to start negotiations.

By extending Moore, Poles has secured the Bears’ offensive core for a long time. The team now has quarterback Caleb Williams, wide receivers Rome Odunze and DJ Moore, offensive tackle Darnell Wright, and tight end Cole Kmet all under contract. They are secured for at least the next four years.

Moore is the present-day huge receiver to get a huge agreement this summer. DJ Moore deal makes him the second-highest-paid huge receiver, simply in the back of Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson, who signed a four-year, $140 million settlement in June.
