Former NBA Star to Join LA Clippers Coaching Staff for Upcoming Season
The LA Clippers have made considerable moves to reshape their roster this offseason, bringing in fresh talent and preparing for another championship push, even without Paul George. In addition to strengthening their lineup, the Clippers are enhancing their LA Clippers coaching staff expertise. Jeff Van Gundy will join the team next season, bringing a wealth of experience from his extensive career in the NBA.
On Thursday, the LA Clippers introduced the modern-day addition to their education team of workers. According to Law Murray of The Athletic, former NBA player Amir Johnson will be becoming a member of the Clippers participant improvement group.

Amir Johnson Joins Clippers’ Player Development Team
Many Clippers enthusiasts will understand Amir Johnson name. Although he in no way performed in Los Angeles, Johnson had a 14-yr NBA career, suiting up for the Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, and Philadelphia 76ers.
Standing 6-foot-9, Amir Johnson played both power forward and center throughout his NBA career, showcasing a more traditional big man style of play. Some of his most effective years came with the Toronto Raptors in the mid-2010s, where he was a regular starter and consistently averaged double-digit points. Johnson’s strong presence in the paint and defensive abilities made him a valuable asset on the court. Now, as part of the LA Clippers coaching staff, he will bring his knowledge and experience to help develop the team’s big men and enhance their overall performance.
